SewCAD
Introduction
SewCAD is a public utility designer software created to help preparing documents of feasibility study, authorization and final construction drawing for rainwater and sewer pipes as well as gas and water networks. A number of designer firms have been using the basic version of the programme with success. However GeneralCom Ltd. has come up with a number of improvements that were derived from designers’ experience. The up-grading of the software is being carried out in close co-operation with Hungary’s leading designer institute, the FŐMTERV Co. in a way that its favourable principles are to be kept while effectiveness and professional design is being achieved.
General Programme Guide
Using the SewCAD package a draft documentation of public utilities can be swiftly and professionally prepared. The version GeneralCom Ltd. has up-graded can also run on IntelliCAD and AutoCAD (R1… R2007). The aim of the programme is that after basic and design data is downloaded into the database, it prepares the necessary draft documentation by automated processes saving precious time for designers. SewCAD has numerous options to help preparing and modifying sketches. With the use of the database, it is possible to modify sketches easily even after they are finished. The aims of the ongoing developments are making the programme’s up-to-date database management and final draft documentation more user friendly as well as optimizing printing options.
SewCAD is part of the software package distributed by GeneralCom Ltd. In order to conduct necessary hydraulic and water quality testing/modeling in a swift and effective manner it insures a direct connection with GeneralNet and GeneralStorm programmes. These way designers have the chance to carry out complex reconstruction work joined by modeling and sketch documentation without creating separate databases.
The programme includes many built-in signs, pads, sections, etc. and of course there’s always a possibility for the user for further customizing. The graphical imagery of SewCAD can also be available for the users by creating a direct connection with the upgraded GeneralNet software.
The programme’s main functions - following traditional planning practice - are linked to plane section and are
- section drawing
- cross section drawing
- assistance in plotting
- making of charts, tabulation
Section Drawing
The design of altitudinal lines is constructed in a tabular form to help swift and transparent planning. The programme, using input data from its database draws (longitudinal or altitudinal) sections of any scale. Customizing is helped by hundreds of options (line type; line thickness; ways and place for subtitling, etc.) The A4 high drawings are made in formats of any length. The seal of the designing company with the necessary data can be placed on the drawing. Data on cross section and plots automatically placed on the section (e.g. ground levels; interval data of traverse utility). Different ground levels, objects above ground, logs can also be uploaded. The simpler hydraulic data can be calculated and written on the section. For more complicated calculations we recommend GeneralCom’s other softwares.
Cross Section Drawing
Data for drawing can also be given in tabular form. Graphical data on plot plans - such as traverse utilities, pavement edges, ditches - can be automatically uploaded into the cross section chart. Utility data of height planned at the section can also be received. Data of geodesic instruments can be uploaded. Due to the vast scale and format options fully customized drawings are possible. Different ground lines and any object above ground can be displayed.
Assistance in plotting
By using the plotting module entering graphical data necessary for section and cross section is possible (e.g. crossovers; pavement edges; etc.). Data planned by altitude in the section (ground levels; water-bed levels; slopes; lengths; etc.) are automatically uploaded onto the plot plan. The software helps in drawing the trace for rounded length and in the speedy drawing of home connections. The designed utility, the connections and the format of related labels (line type; signs; letter size; etc.) can be adjusted. The automatism of labelling is also adjustable. All data can be read on the plot that may be necessary for the section or cross section (length; levels; etc.) The software also helps in preparing the printing of the plot (cut; framing; etc.)
Making of charts, tabulation
Just like at the final construction drawing, the software prepares the charts and tabulations in a format accessible by Excel (pit statement; ground work calculation; connection statement; binding pit statement).
